D’ENTRECASTEAUX CHANNEL

The Channel offers a stunning coastal drive, with a plethora of gems to unearth along the way, including secret coves and peaceful beaches, local arts and crafts, cosy cafes, exquisite restaurants, and picturesque vineyards. Boating, fishing and water-sports are all an important part of everyday life as well as offering many opportunities for the visitor.

From Hobart, wind your way through the leafy suburb of Taroona towards Kingston. The popular Kingston Beach is ideal for dog lovers, while the sheltered bay at Tinderbox is ideal for snorkelling and diving – see what treasures you can discover in the Marine Reserve!

Wander scenic Dru Point at Margate and go chasing waterfalls at Snug. Feel the lure of secluded bays and beaches, particularly at Coningham, and stroll the marina at Kettering.

Stop along the way at the multitude of cafes, restaurants, vineyards, farms, specialist cheeseries and distilleries dotted along the Channel, especially around Woodbridge and Birchs Bay.

You might like to pick up a keepsake from one of the shops selling local arts and crafts, or pick up some fresh flowers or produce from a roadside stall around Middleton and Flowerpot.

Continue onwards around to the arts hub of Cygnet.
